Another (slightly late) Top 5 Wednesday prompt!
Today’s prompt reads:
“We’ve all felt that peer pressure to read that book our friends are dying for us to read. They keep saying how amazing it is and how we HAVE to read it. What are some books you’ve felt you needed to read (or did read) because of friends? “
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Who recommended this? Lots of friends (and their mothers!).
Have you read this recommendation? Yes!
I initially wasn’t too interested in reading this book simply because at the time when this was the talk of the town, YA contemporary romance books wasn’t really a genre I gravitated towards.
However, after much pestering from friends, gave in and read the books (and watched the film right after!)
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Have you read this recommendation? No
I’ve heard many great things about this book. I remember this being recommended to me by not only by friends, but also my English teacher. I plan to read this soon (hopefully this year!)
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake

Have you read this recommendation? Yes!
Fun Fact: I impulsively bought the Waterstones exclusive edition of this book today– I could not leave the store without the stunning edition in my hands.
This recommendation mainly comes from friends I’ve met on Bookstagram and, of course, BookTok. I finally caved in and read the book when some friends organised a read-along online.
p.s should I write a full book review for this book?
Not Here to Be Liked by Michelle Quach

Have you read this recommendation? No.
This one has been another frequent recommendation to me by online friends. I am keen to pick this up soon, it’s just a matter of waiting for the right “mood” for this genre.
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Have you read this recommendation? Yes.
I read this book after one of my friends insisted that I take her copy and start it immediately— like still-in-the-middle-of-class immediately. I don’t remember much about this book, so a re-read might be needed soon.
What are some of the books that your friends have recommended?

- Oscar’s Red Carpet Dresses and Their Book Vibes | Reading Between the LinesI watched this year’s 95th Academy Awards Oscars live, and surprisingly enjoyed a lot of the looks that the celebrities turned up in. ‘Angelfall’ from Susan Ee was recommended to me a few years ago by an acquaintance & I thought it was fine, but sadly I just didn’t like it as much as she did. 😅

Completely understandable, we all have different reading tastes. I remember reading the series a couple of years ago, but I can’t remember much about it lol. A re-read might be needed soon!
