I came across this book meme when I was scrolling through @divineworldofbooks blog (so check out her blog to see her own interpretation of the tag).
Top 5 Wednesday was started in November 2013 and is a very much active group on Goodreads, so head over to Goodreads to join the group and keep up with all the topics for the month. I thought it was such a fun idea to have weekly books related prompts that I could answer and share with all of you.
The topic for this Wednesday (February 23rd 2022) is: Adventurous Reads
The prompt reads: “I think ALL books take us on wonderful adventures, but what are some books where you enjoyed the adventure the character went on? These could be adventures that the character(s) physically went on or maybe it was more of an emotional adventure. Let’s talk about all those kinds of adventures!”

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I chose to include ‘The Hunger Games’ in this topic because I loved the entire series, and the adventure that Katniss (and the other characters!) go on. What starts as a cruel and sadistic game of survival, then turns into a propaganda to overthrow the government. We follow a character and her journey into becoming a symbolism of hope to those who felt powerless. This book had me dedicating an entire Tumblr account to it (no joke.)
I was obsessed.
Entwined by Heather Dixon Wallwork

Another really great book where the characters go on a fantastical adventure. I read this book because I heard it was inspired by the 12 dancing princesses fairytale (also love the barbie remake!). It such a magical experience reading this.
The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody

This is one of those books where the story takes place in one place and within the span of a short span of time– basically proof that an adventure can happen anytime and anywhere. This was a really cute contemporary YA romance that I would highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of the genre.
Heartstopper: Volume One by Alice Oseman

This book was such a cute romance.
But aside from that I loved the personal adventure that our main characters go through. The characters are discovering themselves and their sexuality, navigating bullying and the struggles that come with all of that.

Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross

This is probably one of my favourite books of 2021, so obviously it has to on this list (and probably any list that asks for book recommendations, so be warned lol). ‘Dreams Lie Beneath’ was such a mesmerising story about a girl who goes on an adventure and encounters curses, secrets and a possible romance.
