FairyLoot January 2022 Box Unboxing | Bookish Review

The January 2022 theme for FairyLoot’s Young Adult box is… MONSTERS WITHIN! I was so excited for the book in this box because I instantly knew which book will be featured for this month as soon as I read the description– turns out I was right!

According to FairyLoot’s post:

Monsters are real and they live inside us… but whether you keep that monster locked within or whether you unleash it is entirely up to you. This box is all about characters that have a dark side hidden beneath the surface and what happens when they let it loose.

You can expect items inspired by The Last Hours, These Hollow Vows, Scythe, This Savage Song and our featured book of the month. This box will feature our next collectible trinket dish, as well as so many other beautiful goodies!

The theme art was made by official FairyLoot artist @taratjah and text by @blanca.design

Now onto the unboxing!

Collectable Trinket Dishes

These beautiful Trinket Dishes featuring bookish characters will appear in every FairyLoot box every 3-4 months! The trinket dish we receive for the January 2022 features James Herondale from ‘The Last Hour’ series by Cassandra Clare. I am a firm believer that you can never have too many trinket dishes, and these double as a little display piece from your bookshelves.

Tarot Cards

This month’s Tarot Cards feature the Cassisus and Sevro from the ‘Red Rising’ series by Pierce Brown. Tarot cards have become a FairyLoot collectable, and feature 2 beloved bookish characters in every box every month. I personally don’t know how to display the tarot cards, but I do love the illustrations and characters.

Book Character Puzzle

A new item that I have never received in a subscription box is a Puzzle! Fairyloot have included an August Flynn from ‘This Savage Song’ by V.E. Schwab. I love puzzles, so I will definitely be putting this together soon.

Bookish Tea Towel

We also get a tea towel in this month’s box! The tea towel features a cool quote from ‘These Hollow Vow’ by Lexi Ryan. I was actually planning on buying another tea towel, so I was pleasantly surprised to see one included in the box.

Enamel Pin

Another enamel pin! This enamel pin is inspired by the ‘Scythe’ series by Neal Shusterman. I’m not the biggest fan of enamel pins in these boxes just because I don’t know what to do with them– all the pins I’ve received so far are currently sitting in a drawer never seeing then light of day again.

This metal bookmark is probably the prettiest bookmark I now own. Please take a moment to appreciate how stunning this bookmark is. This incredibly beautiful metal bookmark features Aaron Oliver from ‘Only A Monster’ by Vanessa Len.

And now for Fairyloot’s January 2022 book of the month is:

‘Only A Monster’ by Vanessa Len

The FairyLoot exclusive edition has a special cover, two coloured stencil sprayed edges, artwork on the endpapers, foil embossing on the hardcover and is signed by the author! There is also a letter from the author and a character print on the other side of the letter. The front cover isn’t too different from the regular editions, but the stencilled edges and foiled embossing on the hardcover make this edition so much more special. FairyLoot has done it again!
