Whether this day has any significant to you, I hope you all have a lovely day regardless.

Mini Book Reviews {To all the books I've forgotten to review} – Modern Witch's Bookshelf

1. Stand-alone Book You Love

Dreams Lie Beneath

by Rebecca Ross

Dreams Lie Beneath

Such a good YA fantasy book. There is magic, romance and unexpected twists!

My book review: The One About Dreamless Sleepers: Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross | Book Review

2. Dystopian Book You Love

Hunger Games book trilogy box set giveaway: How to win | EW.com

I love the Hunger Games series. I think it is one of the YA books that really got me into reading– not to mention the fact that the movie franchise practically took over my teenage years (had a tumblr account dedicated to the franchise and everything lol). Such a great dystopian book that has everything a YA reader could want.

3. A Book That You Love But No One Else Talks About

The Chaos of Standing Still : Brody, Jessica: Amazon.co.uk: Books

The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody

Such a great YA contemporary book about strangers meeting at an airport, and the unexpected story that intertwines them together for a few (unforgettable) hours.

So, so good. I would highly recommend this book.

4. Favorite Book Couple

  1. Katniss and Peeta (The Hunger Games)
  2. Cinder and Kai (The Lunar Chronicles)
  3. Carissa and Joker (Ride Steady)
  4. Nick and Charlie (Heartstopper)
  5.  Anne and Gilbert (Anne of Green Gables)

5. Book That Other People Love But You Haven’t Read Yet

These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights, #1)

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

I do plan on reading it…soon. I just don’t want to be disappointed if it doesn’t live up to me (very high) expectations. I’m gonna wait until I kind of forget my own expectations before I read this one

6. A Book with Red on the Cover

If It Bleeds by Stephen King | Sevenoaks Bookshop
Incendiary (Hollow Crown) : Cordova, Zoraida: Amazon.co.uk: Books
Rainbow Reads: 31 Books With Red Covers – Hey, I'm Reading

7. A Book with Pink On The Cover

Red, White & Royal Blue: A Novel: Amazon.co.uk: Casey McQuiston: 9781250316776: Books
Six Crimson Cranes (Six Crimson Cranes, #1) by Elizabeth Lim
The Pink Book List | Penguin Random House

8. You were given a box of chocolates. What fictional boyfriend/girlfriend would have given them to you?

Peeta Mellark, my love. He seems like the sweetest guy, so he would definitely be the type to give a box of chocolates (or a loaf of your favourite homemade bread)

9. You are single on Valentine’s Day. What book would you read? What TV show would you watch? What movie would you watch?

Book

The Love Hypothesis

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I was debating about mentioning a Thriller/Mystery book instead because what better way to forget about the overwhelming display of love on Valentines Day then by reading a gruesome novel?

That being said, I will be reading ‘The Love Hypothesis’ on Valentines Day because it is on my TBR. I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day reading about a fictional couple’s love story. Wish me luck.

TV Show

Just started watching Nancy Drew a few days ago, and I am obsessed. Would highly recommend this show for people who love the book series, love teen drama and enjoy paranormal mysteries.

Nancy Drew - Rotten Tomatoes

Movie

Don't Look Up (2021) - IMDb

Heard lots of great things about this movie so I plan to watch this soon.

10. You are in the book store. All of a sudden you get shot with an arrow by Cupid. What new release will you love?

The Ones We Burn

The Ones We Burn by Rebecca Mix

Love and duty collide in this richly imagined, atmospheric young adult debut about a witch whose dark powers put her at the center of a brewing war between the only family she’s ever known and the enemy who makes her question everything.

Monster. Butcher. Bloodwinn.

Ranka is tired of death. All she wants now is to be left alone, living out her days in Witchik’s wild north with the coven that raised her, attempting to forget the horrors of her past. But when she is named Bloodwinn, the next treaty bride to the human kingdom of Isodal, her coven sends her south with a single directive: kill him. Easy enough, for a blood-witch whose magic compels her to kill.

Except the prince is gentle, kind, and terrified of her. He doesn’t want to marry Ranka; he doesn’t want to be king at all. And it’s his sister—the wickedly smart, infuriatingly beautiful Princess Aramis—who seems to be real threat.

But when witches start turning up dead, murdered by a mysterious, magical plague, Aramis makes Ranka an offer: help her develop a cure, and in return, she’ll help Ranka learn to contain her deadly magic. As the coup draws nearer and the plague spreads, Ranka is forced to question everything she thought she knew about her power, her past, and who she’s meant to fight for. Soon, she will have to decide between the coven that raised her and the princess who sees beyond the monster they shaped her to be.

But as the bodies pile up, a monster may be exactly what they need.
